What is a stand-up bed?
The Rotadorm stand-up bed is a medical aid in accordance with the Medical Devices Act (MPG) and Social Security Code V § 33 and XI § 40, which can help patients to participate in their environment again and minimise physical strain for both patients and carers.
Disabled-friendly beds with sitting and standing functions are continuously motorised adjustable. The equipment includes a multi-adjustable lying surface with adjustment options for the head and foot sections.
At the touch of a button, the bed can be moved from a lying position into a forward-opening, armchair-like sitting position, which allows the patient to be mobilised from a seated position.

Who is this type of bed suitable for?
The Rotadorm rotating/sitting and stand-up bed is indicated for all illnesses or disabilities in which the patient is unable to perform the movement of standing up to sitting (transferring to a wheelchair) – and vice versa – with or without assistance due to joint problems, low muscle strength or pain, or in which the caregiver is physically overburdened.
This applies in particular to the following clinical pictures:
- Multiple sclerosis (MS)
- Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS)
- Parkinson’s disease
- Stroke
- Muscular dystrophy
- Osteoarthritis
- Terminal cancer
- Heart failure
- Osteoporosis
- Tetraparesis
- Hemi-, para-, tetraplegia
- Persistent vegetative state
- Apallic syndrome
- Rheumatic disorders
What are aid numbers?
Aid numbers are used to define prescribable and subsidised aids with a ten-digit item number. The basis for this is the aid directory of the GKV (National Association of Statutory Health Insurance Funds – Germany). The aid number clearly identifies the registered product in order to prevent confusion.
Through more careful quality testing, in which the functionality, safety, indication-related requirements and medical benefits of the device have been proven, the product is included in the GKV’s medical aids directory with the corresponding medical aid number. The number facilitates processing and communication with the health insurance company.
